An In Depth Look at Guardianship and Alternatives to Guardianship

Families are often told they must get guardianship of their loved one with a disability when they turn 18. However, most don’t know the full meaning of guardianship or that there are a variety of less restrictive alternatives to guardianship.  In this lesson, you will learn the different types of guardianship available in Indiana and a wide variety of less restrictive alternatives to guardianship, including supported decision making. We also discuss how to determine how much support and individual may need.
